Supco / New Congressional Districts
Pennsylvania's state Supreme Court has issued a new congressional district map. The new map makes the 18 congressional districts more approximate, and splits up fewer counties. Analysts say it gives Democrats a better opportunity to win more seats; Republicans won 13 of the seats for the past three elections under the map, now deemed unconstitutional by the state's highest court. GOP officials are planning a challenge in federal court; they are likely to argue that the court overstepped its bounds in drawing up the map themselves. That could come this week.
