The government is pushing for more taxes, including a push to raise taxes on a brand new performance tax for each song you listen to on free local radio.

Here in Pennsylvania over one half of the House has signed on to co-sponsor H.R. 49 – opposing any performance tax. However, legislators who favor taxing us will continue to push House leadership to go forward with a vote in the full house.

What is even more amazing is that their bill will give the record companies (3 of the 4 are foreign owned) almost 50% of the new revenue – half WON’T go to the performers!

Here is the Pennsylvania board of reps wanting to tax your local stations:

Christopher Carney (D), Kathy Dahlkemper (D), Mike Doyle (D), Paul Kanjorski (D), Patrick Murphy (D), John Murtha (D), Joe Sestak (D), and Timothy Murphy (R).

There is only one Republican on the list. I think he is a Republican…I called his office and the person on the other end was “not permitted” to release the information. I had to speak to his press secretary, who said he is Republican. When I asked, “why so much red tape to get a simple answer?” she said, "have a nice day," and hung up! Timothy Murphy is in fact Republican, so you see they are not all tax and spend Democrats.

PAUL KANJORSKI OFFICE UPDATE: After six months of inquires, including a phone call from Representative David Millard, Kanjo’s people have finally run out of excuses. His press secretary would not come to the phone or return an email. After her last email that she apologized in and said, “I won’t forget you.”
Lee Iacocca, the former car guy, has a sound bite from his new book called Where Have All the Leaders Gone. He says, “THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT!"

YA SEE THIS IS THE PROBLEM, THE GOVERNMENT HAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT WHO THEY ANSWER TOO. IT JUST MAKES ME SICK.

March 18, 2009:

What if there really isn’t a financial crisis? What if the financial crisis has been brought on by the media blowing things out of proportion? If I see another poll that asks “What’s your confidence level in Barack Obama,” I am going to scream.

This issue has nothing to do with Barack Obama. Asking you to judge Obama after fifty days in office is like taking an aspirin and expecting the headache to go away…immediately. No it will not go immediately…it is going to take time for us to get out of this recession, which is not the worst since the great depression.

If you are out of work and/or you are losing your house, then there is a financial crisis…but not the entire country.

There are financial power brokers that sit around a monopoly table, called the earth…buying and selling and screwing one another to win…at my expense and yours too.

The good news is that there is something that you can do. Pay down your bills, conserve energy, and don’t leave your paycheck at Wal-Mart buying junk you don’t need. Save money and spend your dollars only at local places that advertise and support local radio, as heard on the WHLM stations. As long as you have us, you have a voice in the community. So cling to your religion, and stick to your guns.

The WHLM Stations are locally owned and operated by people you know and trust. Our focus has always been on Main Street not Wall Street.

However, main stream media has done one heck of a number on us about the economy. CNBC, Wall Street Journal and network TV they would have you believe that we are all going to economic hell in a hand basket. And there is nothing we can do about it…well don’t believe it.

There is something we can do. The best way to protect you, your family and your investments is to BUY LOCAL TODAY.

It is a simple concept that was introduced this past summer by Pennsylvania Agriculture Director Dennis Wolf. He put together a plan, asking us to buy local produce, grown right here in our county and our state. Dennis had a great idea, one that can be applied to more than just where you buy your produce.

What about where you buy your car or truck, and where are you doing holiday shopping? Remember, buy local and shop at businesses locally owned and operated. You will be investing in your community and helping your family, friends and neighbors.

Keeping your dollars here at home. Bank local, eat at local restaurants, support the people that support your community all year long. You know the businesses we’re talking about the same local businesses that sponsor high school sports, little league, civic clubs and organizations, fairs, parades, school and church activities.

Together we can make a difference! Literally, when you buy local the buck stops here!

July 19, 2007

Fast Eddie and the Pennsylvania State Legislature have passed the transporation bill that could result in tolling along Interstate 80.  It now moves on for the feds to approve.  If you are outraged at the idea of having to pay a toll to use your I-80 or if you are a business that will be financially impacted your opposition needs to be communicated NOW.  Send an e-mail to both Congressman Chris Carney and Congressman Paul Kanjorski.  Put in the subject line "we don't need no stinkin' toll booth".  This bad idea of having toll booths on I-80 is not a done deal yet.  Grab a pencil and paper and write down these email addresses:

congressman.carney@mail.house.gov
congressman.kanjorski@mail.house.gov

Make no mistake...paying a toll is a new tax...one that will adversely impact our local economy and one that will never go away.  Oh and by the way, if the expense isn't enough to get you motivated to write...picture yourself on a Friday evening wanting to get home when you come upon a traffic back up on I-80 as a result of a toll booth.  Think about it.
