The Kidsburg Rebuilding project is in full swing! Today and Sunday crews will be rebuilding the playground that was wrecked by the Lee flodd of 2011. They can still use your help! Volunteers are especially needed this evening from 5 - 9 PM, and Tomorrow morning between 8 AM and Noon. MetroCast Communications will host their third Giving Back 5K Run & Walkthis morningy starting at 9AM at the Summerhill Road Fire Company in Berwick. Funds raised from the event this year will go to local organizations focusing on drug abuse prevention. Registration will be open from 7:30 - 8:45. The 28th annual Danville Spring Fling is going on today, rain or shine, from 9 AM - 5 PM. It's one of the oldest craft fairs in the region, and almost 200 vendors will be on hand to display their wares. The festival will wrap up with the running of the River Towns Marathon. Join the Bloomsburg Children's Museum today for a Mother's Day Mad Hatter tea party from 10 AM  - 4 PM. There will be crafting projects, refreshments, and make sure to wear a crazy hat to get a dollar off admission. The Museum is on West 7th Street, next to the Bloomsburg YMCA.

 

The 2014 Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis will get underway this morning at the Bloomsburg Town Park starting at 10 AM. There will be food, games, and raffles to floow the walk. Registration will be open starting at 9 AM

 

Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ is holding a car wash today from 10 AM - 2 PM. All proceeds will benefit their August Childrens' Carnival. The church is on East 7th Street in Bloomsburg.

 

Donations are being accepted now for the annual Bloomsburg YMCA yard sale, coming up on Saturday, May 10 from 6:30 AM - 1 PM. Bring your second-hand items to the Y parking lot on West 7th Street, and look for the trailer during regular operating hours. Make sure all items are in wearable, useable, and working condition. Please, no televisions or computers.

 

The Dream Machines Motor Club and Mopar Muscle of Central PA will be Cruising For Victory on Sunday from 9 AM - 3:30 PM. 100% of the proceeds from the Cruise-In will benefit Camp Victory. St Michael's Church Hall on West Oak Street in Shenandoah is holding an American Girl doll bingo this Sunday afternoon. Admission is $20 each. Doors open at Noon, Games start at 1:30 with an early bird game at 1:15. Sunday is the 4th annual Camp Lavigne Motorcycle Run to benefit the Columbia-Montour Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Registration will be open from 9:30 - 11 AM at the Council Service Center just off Central Road in Bloomsburg. Fee is $15 per rider and includes lunch at Quaker Steak and Lube. Cars are welcome, too! Toddler Time is back at the Bloomsburg Public Library this Monday morning. Bring your kids ages 18 months to 3 years old at 9:15 AM for twenty minutes of stories, music, movement, and fun! All children must be accompanied by and adult. The library is on Market Street in downtown Bloomsburg.

 

The Book Buddies - Bella, Chloe, and Reilly - are back at the Bloomsburg Public Library this Tuesday night at 6:30 PM. They're therapy dogs who love to listen to your kids practice their read-aloud skills. Bring a favorite book, or pick one from the Library collection. The Library is on Market Street in downtown Bloomsburg.

 

The annual Bloomsburg Fireman's Carnival starts Wednesday night, May 7, and runs through Saturday the 10th. It all gets under way with the traditional Pet and Toy parade Wednesday afternoon. The parade forms behind the Columbia County Courthouse at 5:30 and moves at 6PM. All participants will get free tickets to the carnival.

 

Bring your good listeners age three to five to the Bloomsburg Public Library on Wednesday for Storytime at 10:00 AM. A coloring project will follow the half hour of stories. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The Library is on Market Square in Bloomsburg.

 

The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble will present their next offering on the Alvia Krause stage, "Good People," running May 8 - 25. The show is full of humor, pathos, and suspense, takes a look at the class system still present in today's America, and will make you ask yourself, "what makes some people Good People?" Come Celebrate Berwick with the Front Street Festival on Saturday, May 10th from 11 AM - 5 PM. The Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau is organizing a covered bridge bus tour of more than a dozen of the county's historic covered bridges coming up on Saturday, May 17. HS Football

Four area high school football players will be playing this Sunday in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association's East-West All Star game. C.J. Curry and Dain Kowalski of Berwick, as well as Josh Tripp and Robert Delbo of Southern Columbia will be playing for the East team. The game will start at 2 o'clock at Franklin Regional High School near Pittsburgh.
