More information is coming out about that strange case of a homicide-suicide Sunday in Montoursville. 78 year old Edward White of Williamsport was found shot to death. Later a car chase by police ended in Loyalsock Township when, police say 28 year old Jacqueline Delguerico of Williamsport shot and killed herself in the car. Now police say there may have been a romantic relationship between them. One officer says a video shows the two arguing at the Montoursville Walmart on Saturday night.
Danville Children Laid to Rest
The funeral will be held today for the three Dissinger boys who were killed in that fire near Danville last weekend. Counselors were on hand Monday to talk with teachers and students. Classmates have already donated clothing and other items as well as money for the three remaing children. Donations are being accepted at MC Federal Credit Union in Danville. There will be a visitation today at 12:30 and the funeral will be at 1:30pm at the Danville Mennonite Church.
Top Ten List
Pennsylvania has made the top ten when it comes to tax burden. The state ranks tenth in shelling out for state taxes, that's up two slots from last year. The Tax Foundation says Pennsylvanians paid $4,374 dollars per capita in 2011, the latest year figures are available. But soon we'll be paying more. The Tax Foundation says because of the union pensions for state workers and teachers we'll be paying an additional $1,000 per household within the next few years as pensions dramatically increase.
Penndot held a news conference on Monday in the parking lot of their Lime Ridge stockpile to raise work zone safety awareness. This is work zone safety week. Penndot's traveling memorial was also on display. It pays tribute to more than 80 Penndot workers killed in the line of duty since 1970. 2.1 billion dollars of road construction is scheduled this year, so there will be plenty of work zones and officials reminding us to slow down around those zones.
Public Meeting in Riverside
A public meeting will be held tonight in Riverside to talk about a road project. Work is expected on Route 54, just off the Danville-Riverside Bridge in Northumberland County. The meeting is intended to get public input. The meeting will start at 6:30 pm at St. Peter's Fellowship Hall on Sunbury Road in Riverside.
It's been a little over two months since fire destroyed the Moose Exchange building in downtown Bloomsburg. Recently United Water opened a valve on Main Street to provide water to the building and PPL hooked up temporary electricity, but today the complete clean-up process will begin. Power Component Systems of Harrisburg will do the job.
Pennsylvania lawmakers took another step to ban cash gifts after recent allegations that several house members accepted cash from a confidential informant. The Senate State Government Committee approved a bill to punish government officials and employees for accepting cash gifts from anyone seeking to influence public policy. It goes to the full Senate.
