That winter storm headed for northeast Pennsylvania will not leave much of an accumulation. The National Weather Service in State College now says we can expect about an inch of snow during the daytime hours Sunday... with an additional one to two inches overnight... and a half - inch on Monday. The storm track has moved to the south... which means area's around the Pennsylvania - Maryland border could really get hammered. We'll keep you posted...
Susquehanna Steam Electric Station
The operators at Pennsylvania Power and Light Steam Electric station... north of Berwick in Luzerne County have disconnected the Unit 2 reactor from the grid. That happened early Saturday morning as technicians get ready for a planned inspection of turbine blades. A PPL spokesman says the unit has not shown any indication of turbine blade cracking... the utility is working closely with the blade manufacturer to make sure it resolves all turbine blade issues. Cracks in the blades turned up during previous shutdowns. It's not known how long Unit 2 will be off line.

Four area high school basketball teams played in District 4 championship games Saturday afternoon.In a triple header at Shikellamy High School, The Central Columbia Girls fell to Mount Carmel 46-44 in a class AA game. In a Boys' class AAA game, Shamokin beat Central Columbia 59-40. In a Girls' class A playoff game Millville beat Northeast Bradford 66-36. And in a Boys' AA 3rd place match, Southern Columbia fell to Towanda 57-50.
