** Funeral services for William Motto at the Horne Funeral Home in Catawissa has been postponed. They will now be held Friday at the Kulp United Methodist Church in Roaring Creek Township. Visitation begins at 12 noon... with the services at 2 PM

** The snow ban parking regulations are in effect for the Avenue sector of Briar Creek Township. The ban will remain in effect until noon time Friday

It's the sound all of us heard Thursday.... snow plows making their way through the streets of boroughs and towns. Plow crews trying to clear and salt main and side streets during a lull in the storm. They were re-enforced by pick up trucks with plows who moved snow off out of driveways and parking lots. Follow up plowing is expected to take place today up and down the Susquehanna Valley.
National Guard / Corbett
All of eastern Pennsylvania got battered Thursday... into Friday morning... by Mother Nature who produced snow, sleet and freezing rain. That prompted Governor Corbett to call out the military.... with the governor telling reporters that PA National Guard member are ready to help if needed.
PPL / Storm
PPL crews are keeping an eye on the weather... and the power... as a major winter storm moves through the service area. The Allentown – based utility tells us crews are ready to respond, but tough travel conditions could hamper them getting to the scene. Very few outages have been reported in Columbia and Montour County since the storm began early Thursday morning. If you do have an outage... give PPL a call by dialing 1-800-DIAL – PPL.
The Bloomsburg Town Council has given councilman Bill Kreischer the okay to talk with Columbia County officials about the possibility of hiring a Humane Officer. That person would deal with unwanted animals from Berwick to Danville. The overall plan would be the construction of a shelter... possibly on a piece of county – owned land off Back Branch road in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Millard / Online Gambling
State Representative David Millard of Berwick has co-sponsored legislation designed to put penalties in place to combat the growth of on – line gambling in Pennsylvania. He says there are a lot of people at the other end of a computer... waiting to take our hard earned money... and placing it into their pockets. Millard says young folks are the most susceptible. No indication as of yet if the proposed legislation will gain any traction among the house... let alone the state Senate.
Miss PA Teen
She's 16... she attends Cyber school and she's Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA. Sydney Robertson of Montoursville spent some time at the Janet Weis Children's Hospital at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville this week... reading stories to pediatric patients. Sydney has held the title since late last year. Ms. Robertson will compete in the Miss Teen USA pageant this summer with dozens of other young women.
Hazleton police continue their search for the person who robbed a convenience store Wednesday night. Police say the robber walked into the Turkey Hill on Alter Street... and banished a weapon. Moments later he fled the business. If you have information about the stick up... call Hazleton Police.
Wilkes - Barre Fire
Fire investigators in Wilkes – Barre are still trying to figure out what sparked a blaze in a double block house in the 14 – hundred block of North Washington Street early Wednesday morning. Flames broke out overnight... forcing firefighters to battle the blaze in sub – zero temperatures. A woman who lives there... and her granddaughter... made it out of the building thanks to a neighbor who alerted the pair to the flames.
