MC Federal Credit Union in Bloomsburg is hosting a holiday candle fundraiser this season to benefit the re-building of Kidsburg in the Bloomsburg Town Park. The fundraiser will continue into the spring.
The Kozy Kids winter wear donation drive is under way. Donations of hats, gloves and scarves will be distributed to children in our local commuinity this winter. In 1997, Bloomsburg University running back Irv Sigler received the Harlon Hill trophy which goes to the top Division II player in the country. Friday night another Bloomsburg running back was presented that award. Senior Franklyn Quiteh is the second Husky to be given the top honor in DII football.
Among Friday night's boys basketball games, Central Columbia was at Hughesville in a Heartland Conference Division II match up. The Blue Jays beat Hughesville in that game 65-57.
Monday night, the Southern Columbia girls will be on the road at Danville. Coverage on the WHLM stations starts at 7 PM.
The Huskies Men's and Women's basketball teams played their final games before the holiday break Saturday afternoon when they hosted Gannon at the Nelson Field House. The Women battled it out but came out on the short end, losing 65-63. The Men's team took Gannon to overtime and nabbed the Huskies' first ever win against the Golden Knights, 67-64 in overtime.
