BTE's TreeFest opens again this weekend, and December 6, 7, & 8th at the Caldwell Consistory, Main & Market streets in downtown Bloomsburg. Come and see the decorated trees, hear some music, check out some local artisans and help suppourt your local theatre troupe! Admission is $6 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free.

 

Visit Downtown Bloomsburg and Santa Claus at Santa's Cottage through December 22nd. Santa's Cottage is located on the corner of Main Street and Lightstreet at the Bloomsburg Diner and will be open on Thursday and Friday's 6 til 8pm and Saturday and Sunday's 2 til 4pm.

 

BTE's annual holiday family show, A Very Special Christmas Special, runs through December 28th, with a preview today at 2pm. The Unityville Community Volunteer Fire Company will be serving their 54th annual Buckwheat Cakes and Sausage Supper from now 'til 9 pm Sunday,  December 1st; all-you-can-eat, 24 hours a day! No one leaves feeling hungry. The Fire Company is on Log Cabin Road in Unityville.

 

Join your friends on Saturday mornings now until December 21st from 9 am til 1 pm for breakfast benefiting the brand-new Starving Artists at the Moose Exchange in downtown Bloomsburg. They'll serve a diner-style breakfast including eggs, biscuits, hash browns, french toast and more. Enjoy the community atmosphere in the Grille Room while supporting your local artists.

 

The Jamison City Hotel is hosting the second annual Christmas benefit to help a child have a Merry Christmas. Bring an uwrapped toy or gift today at the Hotel between 9 am and 1 pm. All proceeds will benefit The Women's Center Of Columbia and Montour Counties.

 

You can enjoy a short stack for a tall cause today. Come on out for a flapjack fundraiser breakfast at Applebee's in Bloomsburg and support the Columbia County Rampage softball team. Price is $7 each. The breakfast runs from 8am - 10am.

 

The Luzerne County Community College center in Berwick is sponsering a community food drive today and tomorrow at the Homestead Furniture Building in Nescopeck. The drive runs from 9am - 6pm both days.

 

Wesley United Methodist Church is hosting The Advent of Jesus Christ with Carols of Christmas, Christmas music and fellowship on Sunday, 2 pm til 4 pm. An offering will be taken up to help to support Agape's heating Assistance Fund. The Church is located at Third and Market Streets in Bloomsburg.

 

The Danville Stadium Council is hosting the Trans-Siberian Orchestra inspired group, Twelve-Twenty Four at the Danville Middle School on Sunday at 6 pm. Tickets are 25 dollars at the door with proceeds benefiting the Danville Stadium Council Track and Turf project.

 

Liberty Township Fire Company in Mooresburg is serving an all-you-can-eat Breakfast and Brunch on Sunday from 7 am until 1 pm. Price is $8 for adults and only $4 for kids. All proceeds will benefit the Fire Company.

 

Fabulous Felines has a Vera Bradley Bingo coming up tomorrow to benefit the cat rescue and adoption group. The bingo will be held at the Bloomsburg Fire Department on Market Street. Doors open at 12:30 pm, games begin at 2 pm.  Cost is $20 for 20 games.  There will be food and drinks available for purchase and there will also be a raffle, Chinese auction, and 50/50 drawing. 

 

Don't forget to place your order for the 2013 Historic Bloomsburg Collector's Crock, featuring the Columbia County Courthouse. You can print out an order form from BloomsburgPL.org, or stop by the Library on Market Street. There are still some of the 2012 crocks left too! Crocks are $40 each - 100% of the proceeds from the Collectors Crocks goes to the Bloomsburg Public Library.

 

The Kozy Kids winter wear donation drive is under way. Donations of hats, gloves and scarves will be distributed to children in our local commuinity this winter. Donation boxes can be found at AGAPE, New Covenant Christian Church, the Berwick United Way, the Hope Center, First Columbia Bank in the Buckhorn Wal-Mart, and at My Town in the Columbia Mall.

 

The Roaring Creek Valley Grange # 2041 in Numidia is holding a gift card christmas bingo on Sunday. Doors open at 11:30, bingo starts at 1 pm. There will be food, a raffle, and door prizes. Part of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the locate food bank.

 

St. John's Lutheran Church in Mifflinville is giving you an opportunity to give the gift of charity this holiday season, as they host Mission Mall on Sunday Dec. 1st and 8th. Stop by the church from Noon til 3pm and consider donating to one of the non-profit groups who will be participating in the Mall.

 

Rise early and join your friends for a Deer Hunter's Breakfast this Monday at the Hunlock Creek Fire Hall at 1114 Main Road. Doors open at 4:30 AM till 11 AM. $7 gets you pancakes, sausage, eggs, potatoes and more. All proceeds will benefit next year's Calvary Bible Chapel Youth Group mission to Haiti.

 

It's another edition of Toddler Time on Monday at the Bloomsburg Public Librairy. The program is for kids eighteen months to three years old. It Begins at 9:15 AM and runs about twenty minutes, full of music, movement, stories and fun. There’s no need to register. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Katys Church will be holding their annual Hungry Hunters Lunch This Monday and Monday Dec. 7th from 11AM - 5PM. Enjoy some Hot soups, sandwiches, desserts and hot drinks. Proceeds benefit the continued renovation and restoration to the Historical 1869 Church on the corner of Katys Church Road and Wolf Hollow Road.

Berwick HS Football

The Berwick High School football team will go to the state semifinals for the first time since 2004. Friday night the Bulldogs trounced Clearfield 44-7 in a Class AAA state quarterfinal at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall. Berwick remains unbeaten going into the Semifinals against Archbishop Wood, who beat Academy Park 42-12 Friday night.

 

BU Football

It was a rematch for the Bloomsburg University football team on Saturday as they faced West Chester in an NCAA regional quarterfinal at Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium. Bloomsburg never gave up, but the Huskies ultimately could not overcome the Rams, West Chester winning 40-38. BU ends with the highest-scoring season in school history. West Chester will move on to play Shepherd in the next round of playoffs. You can hear all the details with Jim Doyle in the WHLM Husky Post-Game Report:
