Building Demolition

Changes to the landscape of downtown Bloomsburg began Thursday. Crews from Sokol Construction began demolishing the the former Cole's Hardware building... starting on Pine Avenue. By the end of the day most of the rear portion of the building was gone. In it's place... a new four story building will be constructed to be used by the Bloomsburg University Foundation. It's all due to a million dollar gift given by Duane Greenly... a Bloomsburg native and BU graduate. The new building is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2014.


Danville Streetscape

The on-going Streetscape project along Mill Street in Danville will is expected to resume the evening of October 1st. PennDOT's Rick Mason says prime contractor Don Bower of Berwick will work overnight for two weeks to wrap the project. Traffic on Mill Street will be reduced to one lane... with “no parking” signs posted on both sides of the street. Work includes the milling and paving of Mill Street... as well as the installation of pedestrian crosswalks in the central business district.


Senior Expo

Hundreds of people turned out Thursday for a senior expo in Elysburg hosted by State Representative Kurt Masser. It was the third time in as many years those over sixty had a chance of get out of their homes... and travel to All Home Days Park to take a look at what vendors offered and to chat with Representative Masser about issues taking place in Harrisburg.


Legislature / John Gordner

The state legislature reconvenes next week in Harrisburg... and according to state senator John Gordner of Berwick... there are a lot of issues facing lawmaker. One of which is trying to figure out what to do about the rising costs of state pensions. That issue alone, will cost the state an estimated $600 – million next year. Other issues include... a transportation bill and the privatization of the state liquor store system... all three issues hanging in the balance since the spring of this year.


Benton Arrest

One man is in police custody after he allegedly stabbed a second man several times last month. State Police arresting Joseph Dunn in Benton this week. Our media partner... Newswatch 16 is reporting that Dunn allegedly stabbed another man along Route 254 in Benton Township. Dunn is facing several charges... including attempted homicide.


Drug Rally

Combating the drug problem in Berwick and Columbia County. That's the goal of an anti – drug rally Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Berwick Elks Club on Third Street. That word from organizer Vicky Lowery says it's all about raising awareness of the use of illegal narcotics in the area. The anti – drug rally gets underway at 1 O'clock Saturday afternoon.


Schuylkill Fire

Authorities still don't know the cause of a fire which destroyed a home in neighboring Schuylkill County early Thursday morning. The house was located along Old Catawissa Road near Zion Grove. First responders were met by a wall a flames. Fire officials say the family who lived in the home was on vacation.



A 30 – year old Luzerne County man has been found guilty of burglarizing a state troopers home in Lafflin last year. William Gronosky on Nanticoke has been in trouble with the law in the past... but this time the burglary netted him the trooper's duty – issue hand gun... used when he shot at troopers during a high speed pursuit. Earlier this month Gronosky was convicted of robbing a West Nanticoke gentleman's club.


Schuylkill Sheriff

The embattled police chief of Gilberton... now want's to be Schuylkill County's next sheriff. Mark Kessler made the announcement on social media this week. He's running as an independent against incumbent Democratic Sheriff Joseph Groody... and GOP challenger Patrick Reynolds in the November 5th general election.

The Southern Columbia and Mount Carmel football teams renew their rivalry tonight at the Silver Bowl in Mount Carmel in our game of the week. From start to finish Southern Columbia was all over Mount Carmel, With Southern 45 Mount Carmel 7

Saturday Games

Saturday afternoon Berwick plays at Dallas. Coverage on Classic Rock 103.5 begins at 1 PM with The Coach Curry Show. Also Saturday afternoon, Columbia Montour Vo Tech plays its home opener, taking on South Williamsport.


BU Football

In college football Saturday, Bloomsburg University is at Edinboro in a game that kicks off at noon. Coverage on the WHLM Stations begins at 11:30 with The Husky Countdown Show.



In major league baseball Thursday night.. the Philadelphia Phillies crushed the San Diego Padres 10 to 5... the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 3 to 1.... the New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 7 to 2... the New York Yankees just getting by the Baltimore Orioles 6 to 5..



In the NFL Thursday night... the New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets 13 to 10.
