Mission Mall

St. John's Lutheran Church is hosting Mission Mall for the 9th year in a row this year. Even though it's been around for almost a decade many still may wonder what exactly mission mall is. It's an oppourtunity for you to give to a chairty as a gift to someone else. You go to Mission Mall, learn about the organizations available...give to those organizations...and you get back a card to give to someone saying you made a donation in their name to that charity. Seventeen charities will be represented this year. It's happening this weekend and next at St John's Luthernan Church in mifflinville...there will also be lunch and cookies available.

Child Protection Task Force Report

The Task Force on Child Protection, which was appointed in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky Case... says the state should change the definition of child abuse, revamp how allegations are investigated, improve training for those required to report suspected abuse, and add new mandated reporters. David Heckler, chair of the Task Force on Child Protection, says they were charged to put children first. It would also expand the definition of perpetrators to include volunteers who work with children on a regular basis in a relationship of trust with the child.

PennState Law School

Penn State is seeking permission to operate two, separate law schools. Officials are scrapping their original plan to end first-year classes at the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle -- instead proposing two separate law schools. Dean Philip McConnaughay believes it can work, as long as the Dickinson program remains modest in size. Other universities -- like Rutgers and Arkansas -- already operate separate law schools. The American Bar Association must sign off on PSU's plan.
