Still no suspects... but police are trying to track down leads dealing with a serial fire bug in the Shickshinny – Mocanaqua area. The latest fire happened Monday afternoon when a blaze damaged a three unit apartment on Railroad Street in Mocanaqua. Monday's fire is the the fifth suspicious blaze in the Mocanaqua – Shickshinny area in the past month.
If you've been on the streets doing any pre – thanksgiving shopping... you've probably noticed the Berwick Salvation Army bell – ringers. The Red Kettle drive is part of the efforts to make ends meet for nearly 500 local families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays... so says Lt. Kevin Polito. He said the money raised also helps various year – round programs. Lt. Polito says the bell ringers are set up at Boyers Market and K-Mart in Berwick... as well as Big Lots in Bloomsburg... and the Columbia Mall in Buckhorn. Starting Friday... they'll appear in front of area Wal – Mart stores.
Run for Diamonds
There could be a record turnout for Thursday's Run for the Diamonds in Berwick. Thus far an estimated 1,300 runners are registered to participate... and appearing on Tuesday morning's edition of the WHLM Morning Buzz... organizer Margaret Livsey says entries keep pouring in. Bradford Co. Collision
A Sullivan County resident is one of the two men who died Tuesday morning in a grinding crash on Route 220 in Bradford County Tuesday morning. Authorities identified one of the victims as Scott Halboerster of Dushore. Police say he tried to pass a car and collided with an SUV driven by a New York State man. Halboerster was not wearing his seat belt. A still unidentified girl in one of the SUV's was Life Flighted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment.
Deputy Corner Complaint
The Luzerne County Accountability, Conduct and Ethics Commission is looking into a deputy county coroner who allegedly used his position to solicit private funeral service business. The name of the person did not surface during this week's public meeting. But Coroner William Lisman says he welcomes the probe. The complaint against the deputy coroner came from two funeral homes.
Ramps at a skate parkk near the Arthur Street School in Hazleton have been painted over... and thus the graffitii pained by vandals has disappeared. It happened Tuesday as high school student's took part in the clean up of the park by POWER Hazleton. It's all about community pride... and volunteering time to put things back in order.
With the early onset of nightfall at this time of year... all of us are being reminded by PennDOT to be on the lookout and be prepared to encounter white-tailed deer on roads. Deer are most active during their breeding season and particularly between sunset and sunrise. Hunting season also increases the movement of deer. PennDOT statistics show more than half of all reportable crashes in District 3... which includes Columbia and Montour Counties... take place the last three months of the year... during the overnight hours.

The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team played Chestnut Hill College last night at Nelson Field House. WHLM Sports Director Jim Doyle is reporting that Bloomsburg downed Chestnut Hill 88 to 86 in overtime. The Huskies hit the hardwood next Wednesday when they play Lincoln University
Danville HS Football
The Danville High School football team will try for the school's first District football title since 1999 this Friday when the Ironmen play at home against Mount Carmel in the District 4 Class AA final. You can hear that game on the whlm stations beginning with the pregame show at 6:30.
Bloomsburg University's junior running back Franklyn Quiteh is one of eight finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy which goes to the Division 2 College Football Player of the Year. The winner will be announced December 14th in Florence,Alabama site of the Division 2 national championship game.
