Election day 2012 is in the history books... and in Columbia County... there were winners and loosers. In one of the hotly contested races... this one for the 109th state house seat... incumbent Republican David Millard retains his seat... defeating Democratic Bloomsburg Mayor Dan Knorr. Millard... capturing 54 percent of the complete, but unofficial vote. For Dan Knorr... it's back to work in Wednesday morning... and back to Town Hall as Mayor. Columbia County voting officials say out of 39,883 registered voters.... 61 – percent... or 24,631 people cast a ballot.
11th district congressman Lou Barletta won relection to a second term in office.
With complete, but unofficial returns... Barletta led Democratic challenger Gene Stilp 58 to 41%. Barletta outperformed Stilp in all nine counties in the reconfigured district which stretches from Luzerne.... south along the west side of the Susquehanna River.. through Columbia.... to the Maryland state line.
Incumbent Republican Tarah Toohil defeated long – time Butler Township supervisor Ransom Young in her re-election bid for the 116th Legislative Disctirt which includes the Hazleton area. Toohil defeated Young by a two to one margin. Her priorities... attempting to attract jobs to her district.
