What's Happening Saturday May 5, 2012


Today in Downtown Danville it's the annual Spring Fling from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event brings crafts, food vendors, and live entertainment to Mill, Mahoning, and Lower Mullberry Streets. There is free parking and a free shuttle service to the festival...which goes on all day long rain or shine.

Also in Danville, the free Saturday trains program at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church is open as usual today.

The Columbia Valley Women of the Moose chapter located in Bloomsburg are hosting a Pampered Chef and Longaberger Basket Bingo today from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Doors open at noon.

At the Elsyburg Fire Hall there is a bingo to benefit the Children's Miracle Network...early bird games start at 12:30.

Katy's Church is serving their first Victorian tea party today. They're serving sandwiches, desserts, and tea from 2:00 to 5:00 pm to benefit the 143-year-old church.

The Bloomsburg University Community Orchestra Symphony Ball is tonight at 6:00 pm.

Ridge Street United Methodist Church will host a free program presented by George Turner at 7:45 PM with a talk about “The Fort Sumter Crisis and the Start of the Civil War: An Examination of the Policies of the Presidents Buchanan and Lincoln.” The church is located on Ridge Street in Almedia.

Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is back on stage for their latest production this weekend. They present “In The Next Room, or the Vibrator Play” now through May 20
th. Show times this weekend are tonight at 7:30 and tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm.

Tomorrow the Children's Museum invites you to tour the museum free of charge...their newely improved Coal Mine exhibit will be ready for a sneak peak and more. There will be over 20 different outdoor vendors and yard sales to shop at. It's happening from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm tomorrow in Bloomsburg.

Hobbie Volunteer Fire Company will serve up a country style breakfast tomorrow from 8:00 am to noon...takeouts will be available.

And, the Defender Fire Company is hosting an all you can eat breakfast tomorrow from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Catawissa First United Methodist Church will host local organists from the Catawissa and Bloomsburg area tomorrow at 3:00 pm in celebration of World Organ Day.

Next week is Children's Book week and the Bloomsburg Public Library will be giving out special gifts to your kids ages six and up who sign up for the summer reading club.

From the WHLM Future File, Bloomsburg Christian Church presents Mountain Mission School Choir of Grundy, Virgina next Sunday night at 7:00. The choir features students in 8
th through 12th grades who have preformed all over the US, Canada, England, Austria, and France. Bloomsburg Christian Church is located on Duessen Drive off of Route 11 in Bloomsburg.
