A jolt back to reality this weekend... as a storm moving out of Chicago... will skirt us to the north.. as it heads to upstate New York and New England. However, it will bring seasonal temperatures to Columbia and Montour Counties over the next couple of days... making us bundle up. Meantime... the National Weather Service at State College has issued a wind advisory through this evening.
Fishing Creek Clean Up
The Fishing Creek Watershed Association needs help in their clean – up efforts of a portion of the waterway which runs close to Orangeville. The Association's Rachel Strausser says the project is slated for next Saturday, March 3rd... taking place from Char Mund Road... to Route 487 north of the borough. Volunteers are needed to help in the project. Sign – up takes place at 487 and Char Mund Road at 7:30 AM on March 3rd.
State Representative Kurt Masser will be in his district Friday to meet his constituents. Representative Masser... who serves a portion of Southern Columbia County... as well as Montour and Northumberland... will have office houses at the Cleveland Township Building in Elysburg. Masser and his staff are expected to talk to folks about their needs and wants... as well as help them with problems they may be having with various state agencies in Harrisburg. Friday's session begins at 10 AM.
Jerry Sandusky Folo
Penn State has received a federal subpoena related to a former assistant football coach accused of molesting boys and is cooperating with the request. It all deals with sex abuse case of Jerry Sandusky... who is accused of molesting 10 boys over a 15 – year period. Sandusky to go on trial later this year.
An arrest has been made after a Freeland police officer was injured by a hit and run driver. Police say Michael Mokshefski of Blakeslee was busted Thursday night. He is accused of allegedly dragging officer Matthew Williams when the officer tried to get the keys from a pick up truck as he was dragged down the street. Officer Williams was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley where he was treated for injuries... and later released. Mokshefski is being held on $100,000 bail at the Luzerne County Prison.
State police at Hazleton are looking for a man with a couple of tattoos on his body. He's wanted for questioning following a sexual assault Wednesday afternoon near the Mountain View Cemetery in Hazle Township. The victim telling investigators that the man they want was riding a red mountain bike. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Hazleton.
The US Postal Service is out with a listing of mail processing centers to be shut down. On that list is the processing centers in Williamsport and Scranton. Harrisburg will pick up the mail destined for the Williamsport location... while the Lehigh Valley Postal Center will preform the work of the Scranton processing center. The effect on the consumer is additional time for first class mail to get to its destination.

Two Mifflinburg women are in jail on a $100,000 each after they were busted in connection with a robbery of a convenience store earlier this month. Milton State Police busting 38 – year old Holly Hoffman... and 21 – year old Maura Smith as allegedly being complicit in the robbery of a West Buffalo Township store. Already charged with the robbery are Jeffrey Stahl and Michael Gulli... accused of entering the store... and ripping off the two clerks at gunpoint.
Authorities in Ashland say a late Tuesday night fire at a vacant home is a case of arson. The blaze was discovered in the middle room of the first floor in a home in the 12 – hundred block of Walnut Street. It was quickly extinguished. Investigators say the building has been empty for several years. Whoever set the first gained entry to the building through an unlocked rear door.
High School Basketball
Both the Danville boys and girls basketball teams played at Shikellamy High School on Friday night as playoffs continue on WHLM. The Danville girls beat Montoursville 43-34 and will go on to face Athens. In the boys game Danville's Andrew Andreychik was fouled with .3 seconds remaining and the score tied. He sank the first of his two foul shots for the 31-30 win. Danville will next play Shikellamy in the District Final. They defeated Selinsgrove in their game Friday 36-34. High School Wrestling / Swimming
In other high school sports Friday night, the District 4 wrestling championships get underway at Williamsport high school, and the District 4 swimming championships begin at Bucknell University.
The Bloomsburg University men's and women's basketball teams will close out the regular season and prep for the PSAC Playoffs when they play Millersville Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Field House. The action starts with the women's game at 1 o'clock. You can hear both games on the WHLM stations beginning with the pregame show at 12:40.
