Although State Police at Bloomsburg are still investigating.... it appears a 16 – year old Berwick boy faces a long list of charges after allegedly stealing a car in Mt. Pleasant Township early Sunday... and taking it for a joy-ride... wrecking it in the process. The Press – Enterprise is reporting in Monday's edition... the unnamed teen was under the influence of alcohol when he went on a crime spree... wrecking the car along Route 254 near Rohrsburg. Two other cars were allegedly stolen by the teen... and wrecked. He was finally taken into custody by police along route 487 near Orangeville.
We're learning more about President Obama's trip to Scranton on Wednesday. The White House telling us by e-mail that the president will be in Lackawanna County to push Congress to act to extend and expand the payroll tax cut. He'll make his pitch in a speech at the Scranton High School which is slated to begin around 2 O'clock.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the deadline for applying for FEMA aid is December 14th. That's the same case if you own a business and want to apply to the Small Business Administration for a loan. The FEMA and SBA aid is for damage caused by either Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee. The 28 – county area eligible for the FEMA assistance includes Columbia and Montour counties... as well as 26 other counties of eastern Pennsylvania. A FEMA spokesperson telling us the number to call to sign up is 1 – 800 – 621 – 3362.

Senator Gordner's Office
Damaged by flooding back in September... the Bloomsburg office of state senator John Gordner in the 600 block of West Main Street is open for business Monday. Since the flooding produced by Tropical Storm Lee.... Senator Gordner has been set up in the Bloomsburg Technology Center on Market Street. His office on Main Street is now open daily from 8:30 AM thru 4:30 PM.
State Police in West Hazleton are trying to figure out how 63 – year old Joann Hagen of White Haven ended up in the river near a Lehigh Gorge State Park trail. Two kayakers found her remains at the start of the weekend... but investigators want to know how she got there. They have very little to go on. Mt. Airy Slots
The Mt. Airy Casino Resort will soon have 200 less slot machines for play. The state giving approval to the plan to remove the machines... leaving Mt. Airy with nearly 2,100 slots. The machines to be removed are of the older type which don't see much action anymore. The area will be converted to a high limit slot room.
A one – vehicle accident in the northbound lane of Interstate 81... near the McAdoo exit sent four people to the hospital. All four... transported by medical helicopter. State police say a Jeep Cherokee went off 81... over an embankment near Mile Marker 136... crash onto some railroad tracks below. Police say the investigation is continuing.
BU Huskies Basketball
The Bloomsburg University Men's and Women's basketball teams, both off to 4 and 1 starts, extended their records to 5 and 1 Monday night. The Women's team beat Lincoln University 85-63; BU's Dana Wheeler reaching her 1000th career point during the game. The Men's team took control in the second half to take Penn State Hazleton 87-41. Southern Columbia is the only local high school football team still alive in the state playoffs. This Friday night the Tigers will play Pius the 10th in the Class A state quarterfinals at Nazareth High School. That game will begin at 7 0'clock.
In the NFL Sunday afternoon, it was the New York Jets getting by the Buffalo Bills 28 to 24... The New England Patriots defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38 to 20. Sunday night, it was the Pittsburgh Steelers over the the Kansas City Chiefs 13 to 9. Monday night's game features the New York Giants in New Orleans to take on the Saints.
