He's gone... Penn State University's football coach Joe Paterno fired by the board of trustees last night. Also gone.... PSU President Graham Spanier. It all stems from last week's indictment of former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky who allegedly sexually abused boys... on and off the campus. Meantime... Paterno's duties will be taken over by assistant coach Tom Bradley. The team heading into a game with Nebraska on Saturday.
An elderly Nescopeck driver is dead after he apparently went around crossing gates and was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train in Catawissa. The incident happened around 10 O'clock Wednesday morning. Police say 81 – year old Robert Young... apparently went around the down crossing gates... and was broadsided by a Norfolk Southern locomotive.... pushing his truck down the track for more than a quarter mile. Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 75 - foot tall Norway spruce tree which has been a mainstay in Mifflinville is headed for New York City. Specifically... it will be the tree that will stand in Rockefeller Plaza during the holiday season. The Press – Enterprise is reporting in Thursday's edition that the Keller family tree was spotted by a 30 Rock official last spring as he was driving on Interstate 80. The tree will be taken to the big apple by truck... placed in the plaza... decorated... and lit for the world to see in early December.

American Red Cross chapters across the region are trying to get their donors set up for some holiday giving... as they roll up their sleeve. A state police fire marshal still hasn't come up with the cause of a blaze which extensively damaged a building on the Hazleton Area High School Campus. The fire was first spotted early Wednesday morning in a modular building. Authorities say the building sustained heavy roof damage.
Been to the Bloomsburg Library lately on Market Street. It's a huge place where you can get lost for a couple of hours. However.... librarian Hal Pratt... telling Joe on the WHLM Morning Buzz this week times are tough. To make ends meet... the Library is holding a fund raiser at the Stone Fired Grill on Route 11... east of Bloomsburg... Thursday night. A donation from food sales from 5 to 7 O'clock... goes to the library.
