Election Returns

Election night 2011 is over and there are some candidates re-elected.... but there is a new face among the crowd. In the hotly contested race for Columbia County Commissioner.... incumbent Republican Chris Young won re-election... getting 34% of the vote. Also winning re-election to his commission seat was Democrat David Kovach of Berwick. He received 26 % of the ballots cast in the race. And a new face will join young and Kovach come January is republican Rich Ridgway. He received 22 % of the vote.

In the race for Columbia County District Attorney... Republican Tom Leipold easily outdistanced Democrat Leslie Bryden 63 to 36 %. Leipold replaces Gary Norton... who was unopposed on both the Republican and Democratic tickets for a Columbia – Montour County judgeship.

In the race for three open seats on Bloomsburg Town Council... political newcomer Eric Bower and veteran council member Diane Levan each gathered 27 % of the vote... while former Fair President Fred Trump received 25 %. Barry Thorne receiving 18 % of the vote.

Berwick Borough Council will see a fresh face or two. Alvin Hill was the top vote getter garnering 22 % of the vote... following by Joanne Huntington 19 %... and Arden Oliver... also with 19 %. Vickey Walton Fish... and Scott Bower rounded out the field.
