There is no shortage of food in our area today. Here’s a list of meals that are happening:
The Bloomsburg High School Football boosters second annual spaghetti dinner is being served up this afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Cost is $8.00 for you, $4.00 for your kids under 12, and free for kids under 3. It gets you spaghetti, meatballs, salad, rolls, beverage and dessert. It’s happening at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Panther will be there along with a varsity football player.
AGAPE is hosting pasta-palooza today from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Lime Ridge Community Center.
St. John’s Community Church in Catawissa is serving open pit roasted chicken dinners today from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The church is located at 3rd and Pine Streets.
The Montour-Delong Fairgrounds are hosting an all you can eat haddock fish dinner from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Meals are $12 for you, half price for kids, and free for any active military people dressed in uniform.
Town Hill United Methodist Church will host a pork dinner and bazaar from 4:30 to 6:0 pm. 417 Town Hill Road in Shickshinny.
Grace United Methodist Church in Millgrove, PA invites you to a roast pork and sauerkraut supper with bake sale from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
There are plenty of other activities too…
It’s pumpkin palooza in Danville today from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm…there are lots of pumpkin-related events for your family. All proceeds will benefit the parks, trails and recreation programs in Montour County.
There is a barn sale fundraiser to benefit Katy’s Church happening from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at 10 Phillips Road in Bloomsburg between Millville and Jerseytown on Route 254.
The Fall Festival is happening at Trinity United Church of Christ from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm today, 260 East 7th Street in Bloomsburg.
The annual fall craft fair at Columbia Montour Vo Tech is today from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Jackson Baptist Church in Derr Township is holding a clothing and household item giveaway today from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Mentor Ministries International invite you to disaster relief fun day happening from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Young’s Funny Farm located on Knob Mountain Road in Berwick.
Alpha Phi Omega from Bloomsburg University is hosting a free kids’ fun night with games, crafts, food and movies, from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at Community of Christ Church in Bloomsburg.
The Beaver Township Fire Company haunted woods are open from 7:00 to 10:00 pm tonight…located at 102 Mountain Shadow Lane in Bloomsburg.
There are blood drives at the Orangeville Fire Hall from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and the Geisinger Medical Building on Front Street in Berwick from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Columbia Montour Genealogical Society are hosting a genealogy fair at the Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center in Benton from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
There will be a full meeting of the Columbia-Montour chapter full gospel business men’s fellowship international today at 10:00 am at Bloomsburg Community Church located on West Street.
And, Hetlerville United Methodist Church will hold a hymn sing tonight at 7:00 pm with special music and light refreshments.
In High School football Friday night, in a game heard on Newsradio 930 Central Columbia fell to Lewisburg in their Homecoming match 28-12. On 103.5 Berwick and Pittston traded blows with Berwick emerging the 42-31 victor. In Pregame ceremonies at Southern Columbia Henry Hynoski's #27 jersey was retired. Hynoski was on hand for the honor and for the 41-0 Southern win over Loyalsock. In other local action Friday, Bloomsburg soundly beat Warrior Run 57-6, and Danville beat Shamokin 42-14.
In College ball Saturday, the Huskies of BU broke the DII record books in coming back from a 35-point deficit against West Chester. Bloomsburg put up 55 consecutive points by the end of the game, the final 55-42. You can hear the details with Jim Doyle in the WHLM Husky Post Game Report:
