An autopsy will be preformed Friday on the body of a woman found in the back of a car Thursday morning in Kulpmont. State Police say 22 – year old Kortni Kenenitz of Kulpmont was discovered in a car in the 700 block of Chestnut Street. Now... police are treating the death as suspicious and want to determine died of natural causes or if Kenenitz was murdered.
Bloomsburg Fire Call
Bloomsburg firemen rolled all their apparatus early Friday morning for a reported structure fire at 136 East Main Street. What they found... according to fire chief Bob Rupp... was nothing more than someone setting off a dry chemical fire extinguisher. Fire and police department personnel have asked for surveillance video of the area to see who set off that fire extinguisher.
A Nescopeck home was destroyed Tuesday when flames swept through the 2 story structure on Second Street. The home is owned by the Berger family... who just a month ago... battled water in their basement from tropical storm Lee. Marlin Berger, Junior said they were installing a new furnace. One fire official says he believes the fire started on the side of the house... and it didn't appear to be suspicious in nature.
Traffic should be up to speed this morning at mile marker 238 of Interstate 80 between the Lightstreet and Lime Ridge interchanges. Thursday morning... state police were in the middle of an investigation dealing with a tractor – trailer accident. The driver was killed when his big rig hit an embankment... rolling the truck over on it's top.
Fishing Creek Accident
An Orangeville woman is dead after she lost control of the car she was driving and it ended up in a field. Authorities say 56 – year old Alice Morris died around 5:30 Thursday morning when her sport utility vehicle went off the side of Harrison Road... rolled over... ending up in a field in Fishing Creek Township. Harrison Road... between Asbury and Country... was shut down for a few hours while police conducted their investigation.
Flood / Hock Money
Although an estimated 120 people have filed applications for the 100 – thousand dollar grant from former Bloomsburg resident Gary Hock for flood relief... his attorney says there are more people to be served. Grant's of $500 are being distributed to flood victims of Bloomsburg... Hemlock and Montour Township. You first need to get a FEMA number... then fill out an application... starting at 5:30 Friday afternoon at the Bloomsburg YMCA on 7th Street.
An East Union Township garage was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon near the village of Sheppton. Now... authorities say they believe a lightning street was the cause of the fire. Firemen were able to save a vehicle from the flames while fighting the blaze.
