Berwick Arrest

A 45 – year old Berwick man is in the Columbia County Prison on $50,000 bail after he was arrested on several sex – related charges. The Press – Enterprise is reporting in Friday's edition Park Henry of East 7th Street was arrested when authorities raided his home Thursday. Henry is accused of using his computer to send pornographic pictures... and the computer's web cam to preform for... what he believed... was a 13 – year old girl. Instead... he was preforming for an agent in the State Attorney General's predator unit. Henry faces a preliminary hearing next week.

 

Montour DeLong Fair

It's been around for the past 73 years.... making the Montour DeLong Fair near Washingtonville one of the oldest, smaller county fairs in the area. Fair Association President Bill Miller telling me earlier this week that despite the size of the fair... things do change... somewhat... like the addition of a barn... and keeping local entertainment in the forefront. The Montour DeLong fair runs through Saturday night.

 

Ag Progress Days

One of the largest outdoor agricultural expositions has closed its fields for another year. The 43rd annual Ag Progress days... south of State College saw a lot of people come through its gates... including Governor Tom Corbett. He acknowledged many ag programs saw their funding reduced, but Corbett still believes that agriculture is an economic driver in the state.

 

McAdoo Fire

Seven people who live in a row house in McAdoo... in Schuylkill County... are homeless following an overnight fire. Authorities say the fire was contained to one of the homes on East Pine Street... but adjacent buildings received smoke and water damage. It's believed a surge protector started the fire.

 

Fire Update

Still no word as to the cause of a fire which destroyed a pool house on Hosler Road... in North Center Township... earlier this week. The structure is located on the Irzyk property. It's believed the fire started on the sun porch of the building.

 

Scrap Arrest

Police in Ashley... in Luzerne County... say three people have been arrested for allegedly stealing a couple of thousand pounds of scrap metal. The trio allegedly snagged the metal at a construction site in Ashley... then tried to sell it at a scrap yard in Wilkes – Barre. All were questioned by Ashley Police... then hustled off to the Luzerne County Jail.

 

Palin Harassers

A father and son from McAdoo... in Schuylkill County are headed north to Alaska.... that after a grand jury there indicted the pair. 47 – year old Craig Christy and his 19 – year old son, Shawn, were arrested by the FBI after the indictments were handed down. The pair are accused of harassing Sarah Palin's family.... as well as the Palin's lawyer. Both are locked up waiting to be sent to Alaska to face the charges.

 

Kids in Cars

There is a problem growing at some casinos across the state. It's simply labeled as “kids in cars." Parents leaving their kids... alone... while they gamble. It's a problem at the Parx Casino... and their attorney... Thomas Bonner telling the state gaming board in Harrisburg... offenders are subject to arrest... and the people are banned from the casino property. Nine incidents were reported at Parx last year... and three so far in 2011.

 

High School Football

Area high school football teams play their first preseason scrimmages Saturday. Bloomsburg goes against Columbia Montour Vo Tech, Central Columbia is at home against Milton, Danville is at home against Loyalsock, and Berwick travels to Allentown to play Liberty. Saturday night.... Southern Columbia is at Shikellamy.

 

Little League

The boys from Billings keep making Montana Little League history. They defeated the sluggers from Rapid City, South Dakota 6 to 4 Thursday afternoon. In the nightcap in South Williamsport... Lafayette, Louisiana defeated Warner Robins, Georgia 2 to 0.

 

Philadelphia / Arizona

John Mayberry Jr. hit a two-run homer as the Philadelphia Phillies outlasted the rain and the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-1 Thursday night. Rain delayed the contest for two hours and 17 minutes after three innings. Friday night Philadelphia takes on the Washington Nationals in the District.
