The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company is holding their annual Memorial Day Fair this weekend, opening from 5:30 - 10 PM today and Sunday, and running from 10 AM - 8 PM on Monday. Enjoy live music every evening as well as your favorite fair food. Don't forget the Memorial Day Parade - it forms Monday at Noon at Ross Elementary and moves at 1 PM.

 

The Mifflinville Memorial Day Weekend celebration gets under way today with a cruise-in form 10 AM - 4 PM. Sunday there will be a tractor show from 10 AM - 4 PM. Monday, visit the German School and enjoy the 126th Memorial Day Parade starting at 9 AM and ending with ceremonies at the cemetary. Don't forget all the food and craft vendors at the town park all weekend long in downtown Mifflinville.

 

The Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church Relay for Life team will hold an indoor yard sale and bake sale today from 9 AM - 3 PM. They will have hamburger barbecue for sale, too! All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. For more information call 570-784-8681. The church is at 108 Welliver Drive in Bloomsburg.

 

The Columbia-Montour Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International will hold a meeting this morning at 10 AM at the Spirit Life Church, 1338 Old Berwick Road in Bloomsburg. Catch the last weekend of The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble's "Good People," running through Sunday. The show is full of humor, pathos, and suspense, takes a look at the class system still present in today's America, and will make you ask yourself, "what makes some people Good People?" Donations are being accepted for the Animal Resource Center's annual indoor yard sale going on now until late September. The doors will be open for shopping Thursdays through Sundays 10 AM - 4 PM at the ARC storefront in the Bloomsburg Cinema Center plaza on Route 11. Donations of appliances, clothing, and other items can be dropped off 7 days a week - please no Televisions, Computers, Mattresses, Box Springs, or Exercise Equipment. Stop by Artspace gallery in downtown Bloomsburg and check out their newest exhibition, "Fragments" by Sara Mika and Larry Ney II. A reception will be held for the Artists on Saturday the 31st from 6 - 8 PM. The show runs through July 6.

Work crews will be putting some finishing touches on the newly-built Kidsburg in the Bloomsburg town park. Starting Thursday, May 29, Kidsburg will be closed while fresh concrete is being poured at the site. Kindsburg will re-open the following Monday, June 2.

 

May 31

The Montour Motorcycle Riders will hold a memorial and poker Ride To Remember Jack Lee on Saturday, May 31. Cost is $10 per rider, $5 per passenger, and poker hand for an optional $5. Registration will be open between 10:30 and 11:30 AM at Smokehouse Bar & Grill on Valley Road in Danville. Proceeds from the event will benefit Jack's family. Donations of books are being accepted for the Friends of the Bloomsburg Public Library summer book sale, coming up June 19 - 23. Good-condition books can be dropped off at the library on Market Street. Please, no textbooks or encyclopedias. A special preview sale will be held for members of the Friends of the Library on June 18 from 5:30 - 7 PM.
