Agape-palooza
The word means 'Unconditional Love' and the Agape Center in Bloomsburg is celebrating its one-year anniversary Saturday at Town Park. The event is called Agape-palooza and it takes place Saturday in Bloomsburg Town Park between 10 am and 4 pm. There will be food, entertainment and vendors.

Public Apology
They are saying sorry. Three teenage girls guilty of vandalizing a cemetery in Centralia have written public letters of apology for their part in the crime. Each of the girls is now working at Odd Fellows Cemetery as part of a court ordered sentence of 100 hours of community service to repair the damage they caused. Additionally, each of them must pay $2500 in restitution to repair 64 tombstones and grave markers they wrecked or destroyed. The fourth suspect in the vandalism, David Pavlovski, awaits his day in court. The letters of apology are published in the Press Enterprise.

Amish Rising
The Amish population in North America has doubled in the past two decades according to a new study and Pennsylvania's Amish community is also growing, but not quite as fast. The Amish population of Pennsylvania has increased about 86% in the last twenty years to nearly 60 thousand, according to Donald Kraybill of the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College. Kraybill says the price of farmland in Lancaster County, where the state's highest concentration of Amish live, is one factor.

New Safety Director at BU
After serving the last six months as the interim director of Safety and Police at Bloomsburg University, Tom Phillips will now completely assume the reigns of that job. He came to BU in 2009 after serving as a campus police officer at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. BloomUToday.com reports that Phillip's has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and has over twenty years experience.

Increased Traffic Enforcement
Starting Sunday, police agencies in Columbia and Montour Counties will be on the lookout for aggressive drivers. It part of an effort with PennDOT called National Stop on Red Week. PennDOT released a statement saying 'motorists who do not slow down for yellow lights turning red, or who "coast" through stop signs, put others at risk for injury or death on the roadways.’ Police consider the following aggressive driving behavior: speeding, tailgating, running stop signs or red lights, passing in no passing zones, and making careless lane changes.

Last Chance at BTE
You only have a few more chances to catch “Lil Red's Extreme Freestylin' Fairy Tales” at the Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble. BTE's Annual Summer Family Show showcases the work of Bloomsburg University student writers who, together with Ensemble Members, created a funny, fractured fairy tale adventure. There's only four performances left. Friday night at 7:30, Saturday at 1pm and 7:30 and Sunday at 3:00.

Bridge Rehabilitation
The deck rehabilitation project on Fowlersville Road in North Center Township continues. The bridge spans Briar Creek. A detour is in effect using Golf Course Road, Route 11 and School House Road. The project should be completed by mid-September.

Route 42 Buckhorn Traffic Update
Watch out for changing traffic patterns on Rt. 42 through Buckhorn. Both South and Northbound traffic is being reduced to one lane each way. There will not be any dedicated left-turn lanes, and that means you will have to wait while traffic ahead makes its turns. This situation will continue through mid-August.
